Tips For Addressing Workplace Violence.

Workplace violence is a serious factor that all types of businesses should consider. Having a plan to address emergency situations is only part of the process that is required to keep employees and customers safe. 

To get started, here are some key elements of a workplace violence prevention and response plan:

Develop a written plan – working with security professionals can provide information on definitions, warning signs, responses, and how to react in a crisis situation. 

Develop a Crisis Response or Threat Management team – these are the individuals within the company that lead throughout any workplace violent events. 

Train the staff – a plan is only effective if staff is trained. This means providing written information, company talks and discussions, and training new staff.

Drill and practice – a variety of workplace drills and scenarios should be completed throughout the year, ensuring the plan is both understood and practical based on a variety of potential threats.
